Day 5 With The Flu

Well, I'm still suffering with the flu.  This is now my fifth day of spending at least half of the daylight in my bed and basically the remaining hours on my couch.  My husband is down in Florida visiting his Mom, sister and niece and even though I miss him when he's gone, I must say, I am comforted knowing that he doesn't have to look at me in this condition.  It is not pretty!  Today I really need to try to take a shower.  I promise you all I have showered since I've been sick, but I admit, I haven't showered much.  It seriously takes a lot of energy to do such things when suffering from this illness.  Wish me luck!

I spoke to my Mom last night.  She, too, is down in sunny Florida (at least I think they have some sun today in Naples).
Anyway, the funny thing is my Mom told me to I have to be careful about my cats.  At first I didn't know what she meant, but then I realized she was worried about my getting them sick.  I explained to her that it's not possible for humans to transmit the flu to their pets, but then I decided I better do some research to confirm my beliefs.

It turns out I may be wrong!  I've found numerous articles online which state that humans may be able to give their dogs/cats the flu.  Whether or not the flu virus transforms itself into another strand, or another type of virus, is something that seems to be a popular topic of research with scientists at the moment.

Either way, I now realize I must isolate from not only my husband, but my four four-legged friends who have been keeping me company, or at least, I have to be cautious not to sneeze on them or share my spoon with them (I'm kidding about that last bit...my cats don't use utensils when they eat, though I've always felt it would be ultra cute if they did)! :)

Hey! Curious where I've been for the last 7+ years?

Oh my poor lonely blog, without a blogger to care for it....shame on me!  This is a typical Gemini, or A.D.H.D. behavior rather, that I often exhibit.  It's called toobusytocareism .  It's true!  I have just been too busy to pay any attention to...ME.  I love to write, but I also love all of the life events that I've endured over the past SEVEN YEARS if I'm doing my math correctly. I began this blog ages ago - when I was recently married and not yet a Mama.  I was still quite busy with work, lots of cats and my Mister, who we'll keep anonymous - at least for now.  We were living in that gorgeous Queen Anne style Victorian in Amenia, New York, when I had started my beloved blog.  Well, it lasted less than one full month - the blog that is - not the house, relationship, etc.!  The marriage is still going strong (at least most days) and the house to the best of my knowledge still stands as well, but we don't live in it, which brings me to my...

Cat World

I have always been a huge fan of cats.  Yes, I have been called Crazy Cat Lady more times than I can count.  I never really understood that term, to be honest.  In fact, I can't understand why anyone wouldn't want to have a bunch of cats around.  Cats are magnificent creatures.  They are smart and have unique personalities and needless to say, cats don't lack attitude.  They don't just follow you around and do whatever you would like them to do and I find that's what makes them desirable pets for me.  One must respect a cat to earn their affection. I have had two cats for many years.  Let's face it, pets are a lot of work and I always felt two furry friends provided me with great companionship and also plenty of work.  It wasn't until about two years ago that a third kitty found her way into my life.  She literally showed up outside in the freezing cold on Christmas Eve Day.  It was about 12 degrees outside and I had a terrible fe...

Dental Disaster

I must have bad luck when it comes to dental work.  I went into my dentist's office today for a simple filling.  He gave me a shot of Novocaine and kept asking me whether or not I was numb.  I kept telling him, "a little bit."  Anyway, he starts drilling and I basically jumped in my seat.  Then he asks, sounding surprised, "Are you feeling this?" while simultaneously pulling the drill out of my mouth. "Yes!" I replied as best I could with some contraption still hanging out of the left side of my mouth.  And I knew immediately when he pulled the drill out of my mouth (drill still set on high speed), he swiped my bottom lip. I'm now back at work with a not-so-small cut on my not-so-small recently fattened lip. I have a party to attend tomorrow night.  I just hope I can hide this by then.  :(  BOO HOO Now I know why it's been a while since I went to the dentist.  Somehow, it's never a good experience for me.
