Dental Disaster

I must have bad luck when it comes to dental work.  I went into my dentist's office today for a simple filling.  He gave me a shot of Novocaine and kept asking me whether or not I was numb.  I kept telling him, "a little bit."  Anyway, he starts drilling and I basically jumped in my seat.  Then he asks, sounding surprised, "Are you feeling this?" while simultaneously pulling the drill out of my mouth. "Yes!" I replied as best I could with some contraption still hanging out of the left side of my mouth.  And I knew immediately when he pulled the drill out of my mouth (drill still set on high speed), he swiped my bottom lip. I'm now back at work with a not-so-small cut on my not-so-small recently fattened lip. I have a party to attend tomorrow night.  I just hope I can hide this by then.  :(  BOO HOO Now I know why it's been a while since I went to the dentist.  Somehow, it's never a good experience for me.
I just thought of another resolution for 2013 and feel compelled to write. Ever feel the need to keep certain things that you basically KNOW you will never use?  I definitely have had countless items which fall into this category. One of my resolutions this year is to either give away or throw away at least three items every single day and no, I don't mean a used tissue or Q-tip (gross)!  Of course, I always throw that type of thing of in the garbage immediately.  What I'm referring to is the not-so-attractive bowl that I keep because I've had it so long that I've become so used to its ugliness and I've forgotten that I bought that bowl for $2.00 at a garage sale MANY years ago when I was a poor struggling college student who barely had enough money to pay the rent for my apartment (even uglier than the bowl I'm parting with) which sported a gold and brown shag area rug and considering I was in college in the late-1990's, this was clearly hideous in ever...

Cat World

I have always been a huge fan of cats.  Yes, I have been called Crazy Cat Lady more times than I can count.  I never really understood that term, to be honest.  In fact, I can't understand why anyone wouldn't want to have a bunch of cats around.  Cats are magnificent creatures.  They are smart and have unique personalities and needless to say, cats don't lack attitude.  They don't just follow you around and do whatever you would like them to do and I find that's what makes them desirable pets for me.  One must respect a cat to earn their affection. I have had two cats for many years.  Let's face it, pets are a lot of work and I always felt two furry friends provided me with great companionship and also plenty of work.  It wasn't until about two years ago that a third kitty found her way into my life.  She literally showed up outside in the freezing cold on Christmas Eve Day.  It was about 12 degrees outside and I had a terrible fe...

Happy New Year!

Well, today marks the first day of 2013.  I have decided to make my first resolution - working on my blog (finally)!  I set up this blog back in 2007 and I suppose I've either been extremely busy for the last several years or I've had a severe case of writer's block.  Anyway, I'm determined to make this year different. I've always had a passion for writing, but it seems that since my work schedule has gotten so busy, I haven't made the time for doing many of the things I enjoy - writing included.  I also haven't made time for my music - I like to play the flute and always imagined one day I might actually compose a flute solo of my own (yes, actually write the music myself).  However, I admit, this may prove more of a dream than a reality - at least that's how I imagine that to be for the next few years. I have had a lot of major events in my life the last couple of years. First, I purchased my dream home - a Queen Anne Victorian that I absolutely ...
